Moving from the Dominican Republic to Belgium gave us a new home, but it also made us realise how much we missed the atmosphere we grew up with. The music playing on every street corner, the warmth of the people and the joy of dancing together. We wanted to bring that feeling to the Netherlands and Belgium and share it with everyone who loves bachata.
The Story Behind La Bachata
La Bachata was founded by Manaure and Andres, two friends originally from the Dominican Republic who later met in Belgium. Their friendship became family when Andres became the godfather of Manaure’s youngest daughter. In the Dominican Republic, there’s a special word for that relationship:
COMPADRES.❤️❤️❤️
During a warm summer evening, while sharing a glass of Brugal, we realised how much we missed the authentic atmosphere of home. The music, the hospitality, the feeling of dancing together without barriers.
That evening, La Bachata was born. What started as an idea between two compadres has grown into a community where dancers from Belgium, the Netherlands and beyond come together to celebrate authentic bachata, friendship and culture.
What We Mean by Authentic Bachata
At La Bachata, authentic bachata means staying true to the roots of the music while embracing the warmth, hospitality and joy of Dominican culture. Every event we organise is built around connection, community and the feeling that everyone is welcome on and off the dance floor.
Mi Casa Es Su Casa
One of the best-known Latin expressions is “Mi casa es su casa” /“My home is your home.” At La Bachata, this is more than just a saying. It’s the feeling we want every visitor to experience. Whether you’re dancing your very first bachata or you’ve been part of the community for years, you’ll always be welcomed with warmth, respect and genuine hospitality. Once you step onto our dance floor, you’re part of the La Bachata familia.
One Family. Two Experiences
La Bachata and KLK Latin Vibes were created by the same founders, but each has its own identity. While La Bachata is dedicated to authentic bachata, salsa and merengue, KLK Latin Vibes celebrates the energy of reggaeton, dembow and Latin urban music. Different experiences, one shared passion: bringing people together through Latin music and culture.
